France 24 (pronounced France vingt-quatre [fʁɑ̃s vɛ̃tkatʁ] on all three editions) is an international news and current affairs television channel based in Paris. According to its stated purpose, it “covers international current affairs from a French perspective and carries all French values”. The channel began broadcasting on 6 December 2006 under the presidency of Jacques Chirac.
Its service is aimed at overseas markets and is broadcast by satellite and cable operators around the world. During 2010, France began broadcasting Channel 24 through its own iPhone application.
